Internationalization, Localization, or Translation?
- Internationalization (I18N) is the process of planning and implementing products and services so that they can be easily adapted to specific local languages and cultures, a process called localization.
- Localization (L10N) is the adaptation of a product to ensure that it works in every locale as if it had been developed specifically for that locale.
- Translation is the language conversion aspect of localization. This is typically where most of the effort takes place once the product is properly internationalized.
